Oh my. Here are the most recent blocks from my Bride and Bloom block of the month applique class. This group meets on Saturday morning. The pattern is Bride and Bloom by Sue Cody, available at Material Obsession. Need a little inspiration to keep moving forward on yours?
Sheila’s third block. She is using traditional fabrics and we loved her look. She’s using a collection and dipping into her stash.
All three blocks. She is going to make one hexie sash to see if she likes the look. 🙂 Love, love, love her bride.
Ginny’s third block. A huge splash of color!! The shelf is genius. She’s using a light background with a pink polka dot.

I stitched the stem and leaves for my first block. Then I started adding “stuff.”
I ended up with this. I decided the vase fabric wasn’t right so I changed it…
…to this. Not a huge difference but I like it.

I pinned her parts together. Remember paper dolls?? I used an Amy Butler fabric for her pinafore.
Almost ready to stitch her together. I really don’t like sticking pins in her.
She got moved to the small foam board mat. I thought about removing her pantaloons but decided to leave them.
Here she is all stitched up! She does have a face! I’ll show you in the next post.
Same process for the 4th block. I stitched the stem and glued down the leaves.
I prepped all the pieces.

And here are all four of them on my sewing room floor. We will talk more about that hexie sashing later. 🙂

Finally, my mom is hand quilting her king size applique quilt. She has finished outlining the center medallion. On to the four corners!
I worked on a dog sweater for Roscoe. He’s actually not too crazy about it.
I stitched the binding on Stella’s baby quilt. Mindy, her mom, embroidered it and Gina Allen quilted it. Stella is a very special baby with a very special mom and dad. You can watch a WXII video about her 
I taught a beginner applique workshop in Hickory at the Catawba Valley Quilters Guild. What a fabulous group of women! Debbie and I had the best time!
I helped Theresa Reid mark up her La Passacaglia so she would be able to trim it. She is planning to machine quilt it herself. It is so beautiful.

I taught my first 2018 class on New Year’s Day!! Patsy and Katie wanted to learn the basics of the alphabet quilt so we started bright and early. The sunshine was wonderful and we had a great time.
We had lots of days like this in January.
Fortunately, our children gave us a new coffeemaker. Ours was very old. 🙂 A good friend gave me the thermal cup: sewing makes everything better. For sure. Hot coffee on a cold day.

I taught a beginner embroidery class for “Nevertheless” at Jennifer’s house. First time doing that. Very fun! She was a great hostess!

My Meals on Wheels quilt. I’m trying to make one quilt a month for their 2018 Christmas distribution. My friend Carol M donated the flannel.
