December Fat Stacks

We had another great meeting at December’s Fat Stacks.  Here’s the show and tell.  Thanks to Gina for taking the pictures and to Tanna for being my “holder.”

We started with Ann’s Meadow blocks.  It’s so pretty!

Here’s her finished Serendipity Sampler.  This was her first applique project.  I am very proud of her.

Paula’s wonderful AMHorner quilt.

We know how to party at Fat Stacks.  Bev and Tillie are modeling Deb’s voile scarves.  Debbie made them for Christmas presents.  Perfect!IMG_4010I look good!  🙂

Kay made this great quilt for Senior Services.  The Fat Stacks group will be donating SEVENTEEN quilts for Meals on Wheels clients.  That’s amazing!

Kay also managed to make this glorious Jaybird Quilts top.  I love this!

Diana shared some great piecing.  These are so fun!IMG_4018 IMG_4019

Here’s Carole’s original design quilt using Denyse Schmidt’s charm pack.  LOVE.

Remember this beauty?  We watched Carole create it at our Open Sew.  It’s quilted and pretty wonderful.

Martha Claire donated this wonderful lap quilt to Senior Services.  So soft!IMG_4024

We finished off with a great make and take Christmas ornament from Stars Inspirations.   I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and thanks for reading my blog!

November Fat Stacks

Here are some of the beautiful quilts from our Fat Stacks meeting last Wednesday!

We started with Gina’s wonky log cabin baby quilt.  Gina is going to have a little girl in April.  Yay!!

Here’s her original design using “Winged.”

Jennifer’s Girl Scout quilt.  Sorry for the blurry image.  We were excited!

Ellen’s sawtooth quilt from Denyse Schmidt.  This quilt is now officially on my bucket list.

The back makes it even better!

Sue’s Feathers from Allison Glass.  We loved her background.

Kay’s original design flying geese!  We had a flying geese challenge this month.

Kay’s Windmills.  We loved her block centers.

Carole’s flying geese.  There’s some big stitch hand quilting happening here too.

Use a primitive pattern with Amy Butler’s “Glow” and this is the result.  Yay Carole!  (more geese!)

Diana’s Science Fair.  She used Cotton + Steel and we loved the swirls!

Tillie’s Science Fair.  It’s wonderful Tillie; your color choices are so great!  I teach Science Fair as a precision piecing class.  There’s a new class on the schedule; come join us.

Beverly’s Science Fair.  Beverly wasn’t able to be with us but we took a picture of her quilt!!

Ginny’s Science Fair.  Ginny couldn’t be there either but that didn’t stop us from showing her beautiful top.  Ginny used Essex flax for her background.

Here’s Joan’s original design flying geese.  Far far away…  🙂

Joan’s Treelicious quilt.  Did I mention that I taught her how to applique??

Here’s my Serendipity Sampler…almost finished.  My classes are starting to finish their tops; look for them on the blog.  I’m starting a new class on the second Monday in January.   This is a great beginner hand applique block of the month.  Contact me if you are interested.

Here’s the infamous bubble quilt…without the ruffle!  Ha!!   I did a demo on how to construct this great baby quilt.  There were a few disparaging remarks but it scored high marks in our baby focus group!  Laurie’s comment was the best:  “awkwardly cute!”

What would a bubble quilt be without Minkie from The Little General on the back??  We had a lot of fun with this.  If you want to make one…and I know you do…Awaiting Ada has a really good tutorial on her blog.

We had a really fun morning.  If you are interested in joining this talented group just contact Gina at The Little General.  She will take good care of you!

Finally, The Little General is having an Open Sew at The Barn in Reynolda Village on Monday, November 17 from 9:00 until 3:00.  The cost is $25.  Bring a project and come sew with us!  Gina Allen and I will be doing one of our whiz-bang tutorials about 10:30 so it should be a big time.  The Barn is a great space with lots of room and we are excited!

Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for reading my blog!

October Fat Stacks…Wow!

IMG_3597Martha Claire brought a wonderful Fanny Hall quilt to share.

IMG_3598The beginnings of Tillie’s Science Fair block  from my Precision Piecing class.  My picture is a little blurry but her piecing and her pressing are really good!  Stay tuned for more pictures as these quilts are finished.  Very fun!

IMG_3599Tillie’s pieced top.  See that beautiful piece of voile on the table?  That’s her backing fabric.  It all went home with Gina today to get quilted.

IMG_3600Spectacular quilting from Gina on a quilt for Lee Monroe.

So Tanna took my pictures for me this morning and we didn’t get any shots of her great quilts.  However, she shared a link from Noodlehead last month for this great pouch with a zipper.  I made it and Debbie won it in the giveaway.  It’s all about the flying geese…

It was a pretty special morning!  Thanks for all the show and tell ladies!!  If you are interested in joining us, contact Gina at The Little General for more info!
