November Fat Stacks

We held our monthly Fat Stacks meeting on Wednesday.  Here are many of the show and tell quilts.  It was a great morning!IMG_3846Gina’s wonky log cabin.  (Gina’s baby girl is due in April; yay!!)

IMG_3847Gina’s original design from “Winged.”

IMG_3849Jennifer’s “Girl Scout” quilt.  Sorry for the blur; we were excited.  🙂

IMG_3850Ellen’s sawtooth quilt from Denyse Schmidt.  It’s on my bucket list.

IMG_3853Just a peek at the back.  Love.  Gina Allen quilted this one.

IMG_3854Sue’s Feathers from Alison Glass.  Wow!

IMG_3856Kay’s original design flying geese top.  We had a little flying geese challenge; people rose to the occasion!

IMG_3859Kay’s Windmills.  This is beautiful; we loved her centers.

Carole’s flying geese.  There’s some big stitch hand quilting happening in this sweet piece.

IMG_3866Carole’s primitive design meets Amy Butler’s “Glow.”  Good things happened.

IMG_3868Tillie’s Science Fair.  Tillie, it really is so “you.”  Love!!

IMG_3696Beverly’s Science Fair.  She couldn’t be at the meeting but that didn’t stop us from showing her quilt top!

IMG_3694Ginny’s Science Fair.  She used Essex Flax for her background.  Ginny missed the meeting too but we still showed this great top!  Science Fair is a precision piecing class that I am currently teaching.  These ladies are making me look good!

IMG_3860Here’s Diana’s Science Fair.  She didn’t need my class; she used her Cotton + Steel fat stacks.  It is awesome!  We loved the striped swirls.

IMG_3870Joan’s Treelicious quilt.  Did I mention that I taught her how to applique??

IMG_3872Here’s my modern Serendipity Sampler.  It’s almost finished.  I’m teaching this block of the month again in January 2015.  Let me know if you are interested.

IMG_3710And finally…why yes, this is a “bubble quilt!”  It measures about 28″ square and it was part of my demo at the meeting.  We had a mixed reaction from the Fat Stacks group 🙂 but I will say that our focus group babies loved it!

And yes, that’s soft and wonderful Minkie on the back.  Ha!  We had a lot of fun with this quilt.   If you are interested, it’s a great tutorial from Awaiting Ada.

Our next Fat Stacks meeting is December 3 at 9:00 at The Little General.  Contact the shop if you are interested in coming.

Here are a couple of class notes:

I have added a pouf class on November 24 at 9:00 am.  Check under the class page for more info.

The Little General has arranged for me to host an “Open Sew” on November 17 from 9:00 until 3:00 at The Barn in Reynolda Village.  The cost is $25.  Bring a project and Gina Allen and I will be there to help you.  We will also have a demo about 10:30.  We would love to have you!  Contact me for more info.
